Remote Modern Perl, 2-3 month project, $50/hr

Do you have Modern Perl experience? Not afraid of Plack, DBIx::Class, and writing unit tests? Want to work from home, anywhere in the world, but don’t mind targeting US working hours?

We need a few stand-out developers to help a client with a one-off project. You’ll be working as part of an experienced remote Perl team with strong architectural skills and Modern Perl experience, helping their clients deliver customer-focused features. You’ll need to be independent, and able to deliver high-quality work on time.

Initial project is likely 2 to 3 months long, charged by the hour. We’re willing to pay up to $50/hr for exceptional developers, but otherwise the rate will depend on experience. You’ll need to be available to start around the 25th of July 2019.

For this role, we’re not especially interested in a traditional CV or resume. Instead, we’d like a one-page text file or document with the following pieces of information:

• Large Perl-based systems you’ve worked with – we’re interested in any large, integrated, modular codebases in Perl, with build steps, automated testing, CPAN dependencies, documentation, and release plans
• Exposure to any “Modern Perl” tooling, specifically Moose or Moo, DBIx::Class, and any of the big three Perl webframeworks: Dancer, Mojolicious, or Catalyst
• Experience with creating automated tests to test other Perl code – use of Test::More or anything relying on Test::Builder is perfect. Basically anything you’d have expected to use `prove` to run
• Times you’ve used Perl-based release and deployment tools: perhaps you’ve used Dist::Zilla, Carton, Pinto or setup your Perl code to be released and deployed via Puppet or AnsibleIn addition, please include the hourly rate you’re targeting, and a link (or many links) to anywhere we can find open-source code you’ve written – CPAN, GitHub, etc. You can also provide a link to your LinkedIn profile or a place to download your CV / resume if you think they’ll add to your application.
